I've Cried the River He Asked Me to

She wouldn't dare try to touch the stars if that meant he couldn't reach her
"There's a fine line between love and hate,"
She said to him one night
She crossed over
"Can't we be friends outside the four walls?"
He told her frankly,
No
Enough information for her
She fled for the hills
An esoteric association was not intended

#PLOT is Fun

Yesterday at my parents' house we had a creative lunch.  It was nutritious and delicious.  I'm trying to maintain my new weight loss.

Chicken with fresh basil and black pepper on a whole wheat cracker.

Garden fresh tomato, homemade hummus, and fresh basil (also from the garden).

I'll be visiting the gym 5 days this week.  Today was a good start.  It's fun to work out while watching the Olympics.  It's invigorating and inspiring.  It's much better than sitting in front of the television eating...not that I would know...

I love the Olympics, always have, always will.  It's a way for all countries of the world to unite and play games.  Competition is healthy.  There are winners and there are losers.  The podium has a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  The winner hears their anthem.  While there have been scandals from time to time, doping and cheating, mostly these are hard working people with amazing talents.  While I do tend to chant "USA, USA!", I will recognize any athlete who has performed well.  I never wish for someone to perform poorly, may the best man (or woman!) win.

Camp Lake Dip
Part Four

Day Six: June 6, Monday, 2011.

Just when I was starting to like camp, Katelynn ruins everything. How did she do it, you might ask? Well, she was put in charge of getting the perfect horse for each of us campers, and she did just that for everyone but me! She gave me the fastest horse when I asked for a slow one. I was hardly in the saddle when my horse took off at full speed! I held on for dear life, and luckly I didn't fall off. But now I never want to get on a horse again, and it's all that Katelynn's fault. More bunk talk:

Leah: Boy, I want a horse SOOOO bad!
Helan: I know, me too!!
Kirsty: Well, I OWN a pony.
Helan and Leah: YOU DO??
Kirsty: Yep! Her name is Mud pie!
Leah: Well, at least it isn't Cow pie!
Helan: Ha, ha! Good one, Leah!
Kirsty: Well, you just want your own pony, I bet, and that's why you're acting this way. So stop it!
Helan: Well, I guess I do want one, but not a fast one like Sarah rode today.
Leah: I know! That was kind of funny really.
Kirsty: Yeah! It was sooo funny!!

I can't wait until the weekend!

Headline: Royal Has Fallen for Peasant

How did the royal fall for the peasant?

Purple die around faded gingham shawl, head beneath crown of jewels and gold next to head with chestnut curls...

Let us go to the populace
What do they think?

How they gossip behind closed doors, whispers a plenty, malice like malaise, apoplectic answers,

"How could the royal fall for the peasant?!"

His form of address spoiled by her visage.

How could he be so rash?

Breech of contract, failure to heed to elders, to comply to centuries old statues.

Abdicate!  Secede, succumb to pressure!  Unfit to exude your reign.

A dandelion amidst roses, a thorn amidst petals, a scar in the flesh, the bitter spot amidst sweet, an off-key note amidst the symphony, the misspelled word amidst the novel, the stain on the masterpiece, the shrimp amongst the giants...that the peasant is...

Indignant voices echo off their protective bubble.

How could the royal fall for the peasant?

"She is my sapphire, my marmalade, my lavender..."

"He is my igneous, my granite, my marble..."

The populace now sit upon their laurels, concocting up grand illusions...infinite solutions...sneaky schemes to this heretical heinous union,

but it endures forever, never to be broken.

How could the royal fall for the peasant?

#PLOT Works!

Yes!  I have lost four lbs!  #PLOT works!  Finally...

The week was long.  I'm not gonna lie.  Yesterday began the week of incorporating other foods, but still trying to stay around 300 calories every three hours.

Breakfast consisted of half of an everything bagel with a little cream cheese and a cup of fruit salad with my mom's homemade yogurt drizzled on top.

Delicious and Nutritious!

It is possible to eat foods I like and stay under 300 calories, which comes as a bit of a surprise.  Portion control is the answer.  Actually doing it is another thing.  They sell thin bagels at the store which have the same calories as half an original bagel.  An ounce of cream cheese has 100 calories.  Add some fruit and the meal is under 300 calories!

Today I went to the gym (where I weighed myself) and worked out for an hour with a friend.  It was fun.  It felt great to move and not be tired or feel weighed down.  Seeing results made me want to stick to this #PLOT journey.  Afterwards I went to Walmart and bought watermelon, bananas, and strawberries for fruit salad to bring to work.

1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." - 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17

Camp Lake Dip
Part Three

Day Four: June 4, Saturday, 2011.

Today there is no stuff planned. We can just do whatever we want. I went swimming, along with a girl from cabin #2, Abby. We swam out to the middle of the lake, where they have this big float. We laid there for a while, then finally began to talk:

Abby: So, uh.... did you really take the art stuff?
Me: WHAT?!?! No way!! Who told you that??
Abby: Katelynn. I don't really trust her. She's one of those wears-a-lot-of-make-up types.
Me: I know. I was on her team yesterday.
Abby: Oh, yeah, that's right. You were on her team with the other make-up girl, too.
Me: Kirsty.
Abby: Huh???
Me: Her name is Kirsty.
Abby: Huh. They are both K's.
Me: The K- girls!!!

At that point we started to swim back, giggling. I think I am going to like camp after all!

Day Five: June 5, Sunday, 2011.

Another free day! Another swim with Abby!!

Abby:

Hair: Black. Eyes: Black. Freckles: none.

More lake float talk:

Abby:... So, where are you from?
Me: What do you mean?
Abby: I mean, like, what country?
Me: Um, I guess America?
Abby: Well, I'm from Korea.
Me: KOREA?? cool!!
Abby: You really think so? My bunk mates think I'm weird.
Me: Mine too. Kirsty most of all.
Abby: Yeah. Katelynn got all the other girls in my bunk to hate me. They think it was you or me who took the art stuff.
Me: Really? She's just like Kirsty! But the girls in my bunk are sure it was me since...
Abby: Since you're new.
Me: ...Yeah.
Abby: Well, I'm new too. And so is Alex, another girl in my bunk. But they think it was me since...
Me: Since you're from another country.
Abby: ...Yeah.

Tomorrow we have horse back riding.

#PLOT is Easy

Eating healthy and making right choices does not have to be hard.  While this diet is not a permanent thing for me, it has shown me I can put my mind towards something and achieve it.  I'm halfway through the week and feel more resolved than ever.  It is tempting to see others eating sweets and junk food around me, especially Peanut M&Ms!

Some foods I am missing:  eggs, yogurt, and ice cream.  Next week I can have eggs, possibly yogurt, but I only want one dessert per week.  Ouch!  I may have to whittle it down gradually.

Yesterday was my day off, so I only ate home made, but when I am at work a Naked juice and a banana help me stay full and satisfied.

Power-C Machine Yummy!

Fruits and veggies have hardly any calories, be sure to mix it up.

Pink Lady Apple

Later this week I will have to see if I have lost any weight.  My pants feel more loose, but that is no guarantee.

#PLOT Continues

It is day three of the diet and all is going well.  It's not that hard.  Eating five times a day eliminates hunger.  Sometimes I feel too full to eat every three hours, which is weird because I'm only eating around 300 calories per meal.  It definitely works to drink the protein drink first thing in the morning.

Bolthouse Chocolate Protein Plus!

Yesterday I made hummus from scratch.  My mom helped me with the basics and I added a twist of my own.  I will share the recipe here with you.

Homemade Hummus:

1 can of white beans
2 cloves of garlic
1 Tablespoon of Lime juice (freshly squeezed)
1 Tablespoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/4 tsp of Paprika
1/4 tsp of Cumin
1/4 cup of water

Blend until smooth and creamy.  You may need to add more water, depending on the texture you prefer.

Serve with your favorite veggies!

#PLOT Juice/Fruit/Veggie Week + Protein

July 16th, 2012

Yesterday I began a diet.  I will only consume vegetables, fruit, healthy juices, and protein drinks.  I will consume 1500 calories per day.  I will eat five times a day, instead of the usual three square meals a day.  This will only be for one week.  Next week I will begin to incorporate other healthy foods.  I want to limit sweets and bread products.

My "breakfast" consisted of Bolthouse Green Goodness and a bowl of strawberries and watermelon.  Yum!  The Green Goodness has a lot of healthy ingredients, including Blue Green Algae.  My mom tried the drink and said the strongest flavor was the pineapple.  I agree with her.  My sister would not try it until I bribed her.  I think her biggest problem was the color, green.

My "lunch" also consisted of the Green Goodness and fruit.

"Dinner" was a little tough, but I decided to partake of the Chocolate Protein Plus.  I'm thinking I did this backwards and should start my day with more protein.  I'm learning as I go.

Camp Lake Dip
Part Two

Day Two: June 2, Thursday, 2011.

Guess What? NO ARTS AND CRAFTS!!!!!! We were going to have it today, but somebody sneaked in last night and stole all the art stuff!!!! Leah is sure that Kirsty did it, but Helan thinks it was one of the girls from bunk #2 (somebody named Katelynn). Who do I think did it? Well, I think it was Leah. Don't ask me why, I just do. More bunk talk:

Helan: Leah, I know Katelynn took the art stuff. Don't you remember how she pushed me off my horse last year? And, she knows I love arts and crafts!!!
Leah: Yeah, but Kirsty is her best friend, and-
Kirsty: Hey!! I would never steal anything!!
Leah: Whatever. As I was saying, I am sure that Kirsty took the art stuff, then gave it to Katelynn!
Kirsty: I would never do that! You guys are so mean!!!!!
Helan: Let me guess: You think that Katelynn is going to use the stolen art stuff to make me look bad, right?
Leah: Right!
Helan: Well, I think about the same thing as you, but I think that Katelynn took it herself.
Leah: Hey, Kirsty, who do you think did it?
Kirsty: Did what?
Leah: Stole the art stuff, of course!
Kirsty: Well, I know for sure it was Sally. Katelynn told me she saw her do it.
Helan: Who did it?
Kirsty: Sally, that new girl!
Helan and Leah: You mean SARAH!!
Kirsty: Yeah, Sarah.

So they think that I stole the art stuff?? Now I don't even have a chance of making a friend!!

Day Three: June 3, Friday, 2011.

Today we had field game day. It sounded like fun, but it was awful. Katelynn and Helan were team captains. Helan picked Leah, Sammy, and Abby for pink team. Katelynn picked Kirsty and Alexa. Then Katelynn asked if one of the counslers could join her team!! All I could do was  look at the ground, wishing I could just sink into it. But the counslers were firm and they said I had to be on red team. Katelynn was NOT happy about that at all. The red team lost every game, and they all say it was my fault. But it wasn't! It was Kirsty's. She stinks at sports. In soccer, she kept kicking the ball into our own goal. More bunk talk:

Leah: Today rocked!! We totally beat Katelynn into the dust!
Helan: Yeah! You are such a good player, Leah! You're even better then last year!
Kirsty: Well, the red team would have won if Sarah weren't on our team.
Helan: Lucky for us she was!

This just can't get any worse!!!

Healthy ways to cut back on calories:

Topless Sandwiches:

If you use one slice, instead of two, you can eliminate up to 100 calories while still enjoying a sandwich.

Topless PBJ

There are many different flavors of gum.  Instead of grabbing dessert, try chewing a piece or two of gum.  You will taste the flavor with 1/10th of the calories.  Extra has quite a selection of flavors, from Root Beer to Strawberry Shortcake to Key Lime Pie to Mint Chocolate Chip!

Drink Tea:

Instead of drinking soda or juices, which contain high fructose corn syrup and sugar, drink tea.  You can brew a whole pot and put in the fridge for a cool refreshing energizing drink!  Add ice for a metabolic boost.

I Miss the Way by Sak

I miss the way we laughed and played 'til the sun went down.
We'd watch TV 'til late at night then go our separate ways.
I miss the times you'd chase me, and then I'd chase you back.
Being young was better then. I miss it everyday.

Don't tell me that you don't really miss it.
I can tell by listening to your voice,
We both wish we could just go back.
Please remember. I never will forget,
Those special times we shared.

I miss all the games we'd play on the weekends.
Red light, green light, freeze tag look back on the fun we had.
I miss the fights over silly things like what to watch and play.
Don't you feel the same?

Don't tell me that you don't really miss it.
I can tell by listening to your voice,
We both wish we could just go back.
Please remember. I never will forget,
Those special times we shared.

Wasn't it all so fun back then?
I hope we always remember it.

Don't tell me that you don't really miss it.
I can tell by listening to your voice,
We both wish we could just go back.
Please remember. I never will forget,
Those special times we shared.

Please remember. I never will forget,
Those special times we shared.

III John 2

"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." - III John 2

This is one of my favorite verses, it points out the truth of our soul prospering.  Some synonyms of prosper are flourish and thrive.  Even when we are in poor health, our soul can still prosper.  The temptation can be to look at one who is sick or having a hard time in life and judge them.  Accusations can fly about spirituality or faith.  When I read this verse, it reminds me of the separation between health and the position of the soul.

The Greek word for prosper in this verse is euodoo, which means "to be lead in a good way, have a prosperous journey".  This is what I pray for my friends and loved ones, to have a prospered experience in all areas of life.

P. S. Anna and Kevin wanted me to put their names on here too.

THE NOTE IN THE JOURNAL:

                                                    Counselor Jenna

THE STORY:

Day One: June 1st, Wednesday, 2011.

I don't know why they make us write in these things. Well, really I do: they just want us to write about how much fun we had at camp, then show it to all our friends so they'll want to come here. Like a sales pitch. Well, I'm sure my camp log will make anyone who reads it not want to come. I mean, it's a pretty nice camp, and I might like it here if it wasn't for one little thing: The campers. They don't seem to like me very much. There are only three girls my age here: Helen, Kirsty, and Leah.

Helen:

Hair: red w/ bangs. Eyes: green. Freckles: lots!! Things that stand out to me about her: the whole day, she has never frowned once. Likes: not really sure, but I think she likes hamsters. Friend-factor-meter: maybe a six, I guess.

Kirsty:
Hair: dirty blond. Eyes: hard to tell, I think the're pale blue. Freckles: none. Things that stand out to me about her: she wears way too much make-up. Likes: not sure. F-f-m:no more then a three, if that.

Leah:
Hair:??????? I guess you would call it blondish-reddish-brownish. Eyes: brown. Freckles: a few, maybe just a tad more then me. Things that stand out to me about her: she's a shrimp (Very short!). Likes: hard to tell. I think she's a tomboy, but i'm not sure. F-f-m: five seems good for her.

We all share a cabin. But guess who has to sleep on the very top bunk?

Sarah:
Hair: brown w/ bangs. Eyes: brown. Freckles: a few. Likes: drawing!!

Yep-me. Like I said, nobody here likes me. As I am sitting and writing this on my (Very high) bunk, the only thing going on is some very loud talking...

Helen (Bunk below mine): Hey, Leah, don't you just love sports?
Kirsty (Bunk below Helen): Eww,sports, they make you sweat.
Leah (Bottom bunk): Yeah! sports rock!
Helen: I know! Rock on, sports! I love to sweat, too.
Kirsty: Like I said before, sweat, eww!
Leah: Yeah, I do too. But sometimes it gets all stinky.
Kirsty: I know. I hate stink.
Helen: Did you know that sweat helps you to cool off?
Leah: Yeah, I did. Did you know that pigs can't sweat at all?
Helen: They can't?
Leah: Yep! That's why they roll in the mud!
Kirsty: That is so gross!!

So, useful thing #1 that I learned at camp: pigs can't sweat. Ugg!! I am going to go crazy here!!

My Life Verse

"For he shall not much remember the days of his life, because God answereth him in the joy of his heart." - Ecclesiastes 5:20

When I was about six years old, my parents gave me my first Bible.  I was flipping through it one day with my eyes closed, placed my finger into the Bible, and found the above verse.  I told my mom it was my verse and she said it was a good one.  A child has a favorite verse, I don't believe I fully understood the depth and meaning of the verse.

Throughout my years, it has been a grounding verse for me.  Whenever I feel sad, lonely, hurt, depressed, or even angry, the verse reminds me, God will answer me.  What truly matters in life will always be answered.  It gives me hope for the future.  I will not remember these days, when my heart is fulfilled.
